CONTINENTAL 245/35R20 95Y EXTREME CONTACT DW

The ExtremeContact DW (DW for Dry & Wet) is Continental Tire's Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sports coupes and performance sedans. The ExtremeContact DW is designed to deliver good ride quality and serious performance on both dry and wet roads. Like all summer tires, the ExtremeContact DW is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

ExtremeContact DW tires feature an asymmetric design with chamfered tread blocks and a continuous, outboard notched intermediate rib to enhance responsiveness and cornering stability. Continuous center ribs reduce noise and provide constant rubber-to-road contact to control the longitudinal forces experienced when braking. A high void-to-tread ratio with open outboard lateral grooves, wide circumferential tread grooves and notched shoulder blocks on the inboard intermediate rib and shoulder help disperse water to enhance hydroplaning resistance and wet weather traction.

The ExtremeContact DW features Tuned Performance Indicators - visible letters molded into the second rib from the outboard shoulder to alert drivers of the tire's performance levels. A visible ""DW"" indicates the tire has sufficient tread depth for dry and most wet road conditions and after the ""W"" has worn away, the remaining ""D"" indicates the tire has appropriate tread depth for dry conditions only.

Purchased a set of four tyres last year, after 25,000 KM, I'm rating this tyre as excellent throughout all weather conditions, especially when the road is wet, traction is lot better than many other more expensive tyres, on dry pavement, it is above average, but not as good as other high performance summer tyres. For a all season tyre the DWS is amazing. Dry handling is about the same as my Michelin Pilot's, but wet handling is 100x better. Standing water is no longer a issues and the tyre cuts through it with absolutely no hydroplaning. (Posted on 16/04/2013)

There may be better tyres out there but they are almost 3x the price. To those saying the treadwear is short lived, I might argue your driving style or lack of diligence in keeping proper inflation and your car aligned probably have a bit to do with that. (Posted on 16/04/2013)

If you want a tyre that suits most all conditions, gets great tread life, almost silent on the road and is relatively inexpensive, this is the tyre to have, in my opinion. (Posted on 16/04/2013)

DWS drive MUCH smoother and absorb bumps and cracks MUCH better. I thought for years it was my suspension, but the High Treadwear Hard Michelins were the problem! (Posted on 28/11/2012)

Quiet tyres with a soft ride. Decent wet traction performance, haven't had a snowfall yet. Terrible handling feel on my car, turn in response is slow, and on center feel is poor. Car is unsettled during higher speed lane changes. (Posted on 28/11/2012)

Have had them on the car about a year. Very impressed with the wet handling and overall performance on these. I think they are underrated on this site for wet and dry handling. I would recommend them. (Posted on 28/11/2012)

Excellent tyre Ive always been a fan of Michelin and Pirelli tyres however after trying these I think they superior to Michelin in comfort noise traction, however fall sort of handing and dry traction when compared to Pirelli PZero. I however would like more mileage out of them. Im at 40,000km and thinking its soon for a change. Most definitely to the same tyre. (Posted on 28/11/2012)

Purchased this tyre recently and loved them. Such a difference in handling compared to the Pilot Exalto A/S I had on previously. When the rains of fall came around they performed very well. The sidewalls are a little soft and I could feel a little roll in hard cornering but it's not too bad. (Posted on 28/11/2012)
